Eco Wave Power is developing technology to harness ocean waves for clean electricity using existing marine infrastructure, powered by NVIDIA AI infrastructure and digital twins. Wave energy could produce over 60% of annual U.S. energy consumption[1].
Eco Wave Power's innovative approach involves noninvasive floating infrastructure attached to breakwaters or sea walls to capture wave energy. The company has operational projects in Jaffa Port, Israel, and the Port of Los Angeles, developed with EDF Power Solutions and AltaSea, respectively[1].
The technology leverages NVIDIA Omniverse libraries to create digital twins of wave patterns and floating infrastructure, simulating conditions and optimizing engineering decisions before physical installation. NVIDIA accelerated computing and AI enable real-time optimization of wave energy systems through predictive analytics and anomaly detection. This allows for continuous analysis of ocean conditions and energy generation patterns to improve efficiency and operational resilience.
Inna Braverman, Eco Wave Power's cofounder and CEO, noted that wave energy is the 'least intermittent source of renewable energy,' capable of generating power around the clock. The company is exploring the potential to power data centers directly with wave energy, with pilots underway at the Port of Los Angeles. AI software is used to plan compute tasks based on available wave power, allocating more intensive tasks during periods of stronger wave activity.
