From God of War to Until Dawn – seven reveals from last night’s PlayStation event
PlayStation has announced several new games, including Marvel's Wolverine, Silent Hill: Townfall, and God of War: Laufey, as part of its State of Play live-stream.
The announcements come as Sony continues to navigate a competitive gaming market. The PS5 has outsold the Xbox Series S/X by approximately three to one[1]. However, Sony's game sales have declined since a peak during the pandemic, with 54.1m copies sold in the 2018 financial year dropping to 32.1m in 2025[1]. New titles include Marvel's Wolverine, set for release on 15 September 2026, and Silent Hill: Townfall, due on 24 September 2026. Other announcements included Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Meanwhile, Microsoft is increasing costs for GitHub Copilot, a sign that AI companies are starting to pass on costs to customers[2]. The AI ecosystem is heavily subsidized by investor money, and companies may need to transform to become profitable[2].
