Google is removing the beta label from its redesigned Google Finance service and launching a dedicated Android application, the company announced this week. The updates introduce global portfolio tracking, AI-powered research tools, and scheduled market briefings delivered through the Google app. The new Google Finance, which began rolling out globally, allows users to consolidate investment holdings into a single dashboard that displays performance data and asset-allocation insights [1]. A new Android application, available through the Google Play store, brings watchlist access, real-time market data, a live financial news feed, and the AI research tool to mobile devices [1]. Google stated that portfolio and task features, along with live earnings calls, will be added to the mobile app in the coming months, and an iOS version is planned for later this year [1]. The AI capabilities in Google Finance draw on the company’s Gemini model family, which powers generative features across Google’s ecosystem [2]. Gemini was first announced in December 2023 and replaced the Bard chatbot branding in February 2024 [2]. The models are trained natively on multiple data types and are distributed in tiers ranging from on-device “Nano” versions to high-compute “Ultra” variants [2]. Google has integrated Gemini into its mobile app as an overlay assistant on Android devices and offers it to third-party developers through the Vertex AI platform [2]. Google Play, the distribution platform for the new Finance app, serves as the official app store for certified Android and ChromeOS devices [3].
